Shop set up in Arad for refugees in need of free clothing and food / „Refugees are increasingly in need of clothing and shoes”

A shop offering free clothing, food and toys to Ukrainian refugees was set up by an association, with the help of volunteers, in Arad, the initiators being involved in other actions to support those fleeing war and arriving in our country.

The shop was opened in a warehouse located on Poetului Street at no. 105 – 107, in the Vlaicu district.

„When people started to flee the war it was winter and the temperatures were very low. We all hoped that this merciless conflict would end as soon as possible. But now spring has sprung, and the refugees in Arad are increasingly in need of proper clothing and footwear. With the help of volunteers we set up an ‘ephemeral shop’. This was made possible thanks to your donations, for which we are very grateful, and we appeal again to your understanding to donate only items in good and very good condition”, the Association „Gai – Our Neighbourhood” sent on Thursday.

Volunteers are appealing to people from Arad who host or know refugee families to direct them to the shop where clothing and footwear for children and adults, as well as toys, hygiene products, sweets or non-perishable food are offered free of charge.

Immediately after the outbreak of war, the association became involved in collecting donations and transporting them to the Ukrainian border for distribution to refugees. Several shipments of food and other goods were also taken to Ukraine, such as to Chernivtsi.
