An Explosion was reported in Tiraspol, in the building of the Security Committee, following an attack with grenade launchers/ Moldovan Government: „It is about creating pretexts for tensioning the security situation in the Transnistrian region”
An explosion was reported in the headquarters of the Tiraspol Security Service, the so-called MGB, tv8.md reported.
The Transnistrian region separated from Chisinau after the fall of the Soviet Union, it has its own currency and institutions and has a population of about half a million people. The area is dependent on Russia, which has military troops stationed on the territory of the pro-Russian separatist region.
The Office of Reintegration Policy expresses its concern over the incident in the city of Tiraspol, according to a statement published Monday on the Moldovan government’s website:
- „According to available information, unidentified persons fired grenade-launcher shots at the headquarters of the so-called security structure in the region. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or injured persons. The aim of today’s incident is to create pretexts for the tension in the security situation in the Transnistrian region, which is not under the control of the constitutional authorities. In this context, the Office of Reintegration Policy calls for calm and together with the competent national institutions is monitoring the developments in this case”.
The information was confirmed by the so-called Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Transnistrian region, according to Agora.md.
The explosion comes on the same day that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said in Moscow that Russia does not see „risks for escalation of the situation” in Transnistria, tv8.md reports.
