BREAKING Defense Ministry asks Parliament for approval to buy military submarine (document)

The Ministry of Defense is asking Parliament for approval to buy a military submarine „against surface and underwater threats”, according to a document consulted by G4Media. The document will be discussed in the Parliament’s joint permanent bureau.

• „The armament program consists in achieving combat capability against surface ships and anti-submarine vessels by equipping the Romanian Naval Forces with submarine-type vessels in order to obtain effective capabilities in reconnaissance research and intelligence gathering at the operational-strategic level while executing combat actions against enemy surface ships and submarines to destroy/neutralize/deter enemy naval forces, independently or in cooperation with other forces, in territorial waters, as well as in international waters or in hostile coastal areas, in high-risk areas, far from their own naval bases,” the MApN’s argumentation states.
  The document is addressed to Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Chamber of Deputies, by the ministry headed by Angel Tîlvăr (PSD).
