Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă told PNL leaders at a meeting on Monday the main fiscal measures were decided after negotiations with the PSD.

According to G4Media sources, Ciucă told the Liberals that he had agreed to the following changes from 1 January 2023:

– the dividend tax will increase from 5% to 8%, including for state-owned companies
– VAT to rise to 19% on sugary drinks
– taxation of gambling companies increases to 40%

In addition, excise duties on alcohol and tobacco increase from 1 July this year.

Instead, Ciucă said that he does not support the solidarity tax for large companies with a turnover of over 100 million euros.

In addition, the tax exemption for salaries in agriculture and construction will be up to 10,000 lei, while the exemption threshold was until now 30,000 lei.
