The largest financing contract for the railway sector under the National Recovery and Resilience Programme (NRRP), worth 8.77 billion lei, has been signed and involves the modernization of the Caransebeș – Timisoara – Arad railway line, over a total length of 162 km, Agerpres reports.
According to a CFR SA press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the financing contract was signed by Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu and Ion Simu Alexandru, general manager of the National Railway Company CFR SA.
„We have signed a very important contract for funding through the NRRP for the modernization of railway infrastructure! Worth 8.77 billion lei, the contract will provide money for the modernization of 162 km of the Caransebeș – Timișoara – Arad railway line. All 4 lots of this project already have designated contractors, and the contracts for the design and execution will be signed after the resolution of the disputes,” Grindeanu said on his Facebook page.
