BREAKING Ukraine’s defence minister announces arms orders to Romania and several countries

Ukraine will receive the necessary arms and ammunition every month of 2023 to be able to fight the Russian invasion, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov gave assurances on Wednesday, as quoted by Agerpres. Reznikov listed Romania among the countries where Ukraine has placed orders for weaponry.

The Ukrainian official’s announcement comes amid the Romanian authorities’ consistent refusal to publicly discuss possible arms and ammunition deliveries to Ukraine. The rest of the European countries supporting Ukraine in resisting the Russian invasion have publicly announced their military support.

In a special programme broadcast on Ukrainian TV stations and picked up by the Interfax-Ukraine agency, Ukraine’s defence minister said the country had signed numerous contracts with other nations to supply weapons in the coming months.

„The American military industry is already up and running. In other words, one of the key themes of every meeting in the ‘Ramstein format’ (as Ukraine’s Defense Group meetings with other nations are called) is the implementation of capabilities of countries supporting Ukraine in this war,” the Ukrainian minister said.

At the moment, „orders have already been placed, and not only in the US, but also in Germany, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania and other countries,” he said.

„And I will discuss openly, without revealing big secrets, I have many contracts signed to provide us with the necessary weapons and the appropriate ammunition. And I know for sure, defense ministers or defense secretaries of various countries confirm to me that they too have signed similar contracts,” he said.

The Ukrainian agency recalled that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had reported back in November that at least six countries had announced more military aid for Ukraine at the seventh meeting of the so-called Ramstein format.
