Fugitive Paul Philippe of Romania has been arrested by authorities in France. When stopped on the streets of Paris, the fugitive Price identified himself with a UK-issued passport. Direction Generale de la Gendarmerie Nationale (DGGN) and Office central de Lutte Contre la Delinquance Itinerante (OCLDI) are the French authorities that supported the Romanian Police in this case.

The Romanian police have confirmed in a statement the arrest of Paul of Romania in Paris, following international police cooperation with the French authorities. Procedural activities for his surrender are now underway.

Paul Philippe of Romania has been wanted internationally since December 2020, after police officers who searched his address in the capital’s 2nd District, could not find him for the execution of his conviction in the Baneasa Farm restitution case.

According to the website of the Romanian Police, Paul of Romania is wanted for the execution of a warrant issued by the Court of Appeal of Brasov, as an execution court, for 3 years and 4 months in prison for buying influence and complicity in the crime of abuse of office against public interests.

His wife, Princess Lia, told police that Paul had gone to Portugal.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice handed down its final verdict in the Băneasa Farm case in December 2020: Remus Truică was sentenced to seven years in prison, Israelis Benjamin Steinmetz and Tal Silberstein received five years in prison each, and Romania’s Paul – three years and four months.

Journalist Dan Andronic was also sentenced to three years in prison with a suspended sentence.
