Cătălin Drulă, interim president of USR, on Monday criticised President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and SRI chief Eduard Hellvig, whom he said are the „architects” of a system that increasingly ” militarizes” society.

„There are people who, through occult channels, want to put an illiberal silence over Romania and we will fight them. We must not forget the role of those who are the architects and are now handing over the baton. The architects are Iohannis, supported by the politician Eduard Hellvig, who has never stopped being a politician. A head of secret service should not be in politics. Iohannis and Hellvig are now grooming Ciucă to become the continuation of the Iohannis project,” Drulă said at a press conference.

He started from the case of journalist Emilia Șercan, who accused the Romanian police of an attempt to compromise her. Șercan is the journalist responsible for exposing the plagirism of doctoral degrees inside the Romanian Police Acaemy.

„I saw the operation to compromise Emilia Șercan. An honest journalist has become the target of a mafia system of army ranks for exposing the plagiarist Nicolae Ciucă. Ciucă, who said he would not destroy his honour by entering politics, has become an exponent of evil. A continuation of a system that increasingly militarizes society – whether we are talking about parties, where we see that the PNL is being led by the army and Lucian Bode’s militia, intimidating a journalist, taking pictures in the purest Belarusian kompromat style”, said Cătălin Drulă.

„We cannot accept that Romania is ruled by the eppaulets. We want this message to be heard loud and clear. I count on you, a society needs the press, take our message to the citizens”, Drulă added.

Drulă called on Prime Minister Ciucă to stop „blocking the plagiarism investigation” into his own case.
